Key Stage 4
The GCSE Business course will give students an understanding of what is it like to both run their own business and work within a business. The course deals with all of the core business topics including finance, marketing and human resources. Students will develop of understanding of the steps that are needed to start a small business and then go on to consider the issues around business expansion and growth. The controlled assessment task (25%) of the course requires students to conduct research into a business based around a certain issue and write a business report on their findings.

At Petchey's University Gateway you have the opportunity to study A-Level Business (the new specification introduced September 2016) which demonstrates the interrelated nature of Business using models, theories and techniques to support analysis of contemporary business issues and situations.
The course will focus on supporting students to generate enterprising and creative approaches to business opportunities, problems and issues as well as building awareness of the ethical dilemmas and responsibilities faced by business organisations. Students will acquire a range of relevant business and generic skills, including decision making, problemsolving, critical analysis, and the application of numerical skills in a range of business contexts.
