Key Stage 3

Computer science is a fast-moving field that brings together many disciplines, including mathematics, programming, engineering, and the natural sciences.

This carefully planned course gives students a real, in-depth understanding of how computer technology works. It offers an insight into what goes on ‘behind the scenes’, including computer programming, which many students find absorbing.

Key Stage 5

This A-Level Computer Science course is a challenging 2 year programme. It consists of both coursework (20% of final grade) and two exam based units in year 13 (80% of final grade).

Students will begin by learning about different hardware and software used in computer science. This will include the various forms of data representation such as binary and hexadecimal, Booleans algebra and programming languages.

Programming, computational thinking and the use of algorithms are a key aspects of the course. Students will learn to programme and develop a system that meets specified user requirements.
