Sixth form students make very good use of the opportunities offered to them in University Gateway. They act as excellent role models for younger students in relation to their behaviour and attitudes to learning, by demonstrating how Petchey students can use every opening available to improve their life chances.

There are many reasons why you should choose to study at The Petchey Academy Sixth Form. The aim of our Sixth Form is to ensure that you achieve academic success as well as provide opportunities to extend you as an individual with a thorough understanding of citizenship and your responsibilities to the local and world communities, as well as to the academy.

You will further develop your independence, keen sense of personal ability and self-reliance as well as the study skills that you will need to be a desirable university candidate and for continued achievement throughout your lives. We expect you to work hard so that you are well prepared to deal confidently with the demands and challenges you will face on this journey.

In order to best support our students in this, the academy has forged close partnerships with a wide range of universities, charities and corporate organisations including: Clare College (Cambridge), Wadham College (Oxford), University of Southampton Medical School, Kings College (University of London), The Sutton Trust, Insight into Bristol, Insight into York, UniCredit, Faskin Martineau, IntoUniversity and ReachOut!
