With the focus on STEM subjects we have created a STEM working group to plan activities throughout the year to broaden access and understanding across all year groups.

Educational Visits

Across four weeks in January and early February, all of our Year 8 students visited the Science Museum in their house groups to attend the "Engineering your Future" exhibition.  The exhibition provided students with the ability to test out their problem-solving and team working skills with the variety of interactive activities at hand; hopefully inspiring them to consider a career in the Engineering field.  They also attended the "Information Age" and "Antenna" exhibitions which they all thoroughly enjoyed.

To mark the end of STEM club week, there was be a STEM club exhibition and competition event. This is where students had the opportunity to showcase what they have learned and achieved in their STEM clubs.  There was also a Cargo Drop task (building a parachute with holder underneath to drop from a height and land with its cargo safely in tact) and the students competed to see who developed the best one.
