KS3 Students will study 2 hours per week and focus on developing the breadth and depth of students ‘competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing, based on a sound foundation of core grammar and vocabulary. It enable pupils to understand and communicate personal and factual information that goes beyond their immediate needs and interests, developing and justifying points of view in speech and writing, with increased spontaneity, independence and accuracy. The course prepare student for KS4.

 

 

Year 7

Semester 1

Studentslearn how to give personal information.

Semester 2

Studentslearn to describe their family in addition to talk about nationalities andcountries.

Semester 3

Studentslearn to talk about their school and express their opinions on differentteachers and subjects.

Semester 4

Studentslearn to describe where they live and their accommodation, as well as what theydo to help at home as well as describing their daily routine.

Semester 5

Studentslearn to describe their town in terms of the local area, amenities andpotential activities available.

Semester 6

Students participate in the whole-school ‘Under the Stars’ exhibitionevent, whereby they develop their understanding of  a set text in thetarget language and create their own interpretation of this story.

 

 

Year 8

Semester 1

Studentslearn to talk about fashion using at least two tenses. 

Semester 2

Studentslearn to talk about food through an understanding of Spanish cuisine, andcompile an international recipe book of meals from their respective cultures.

Semester 3

Studentsbegin to develop their understanding of a wider variety of grammatical structuresand tenses against the revision of sports vocabulary within the context ofinternational sports events such as the Olympic Games.

Semester 4

Studentstalk about themselves and others using more complex vocabulary and differenttenses.

Semester 5 

Studentslearn what you can do during a holiday as well as describing a Spanish speakingcity or country.

Semester 6

Studentsparticipate in the whole-school ‘Under the Stars’ exhibition event, wherebythey develop their understanding of a set text in the target language andcreate their own interpretation of this story.

Further to this, there are educational visits to a Spanish restaurant,cinema, and aPen –pal project where students can practise their skills in areal context.
