As well as having lots of workshops and activities going on throughout the academy as part of out Stamp Out Prejudice week some of our students have been on an educational visit to see Everybody's talking about Jamie at the Apollo Theatre. The story takes inspiration from the BBC Three documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16; which followed the true story of Jamie Campbell.
The Q & A after the show was very insightful. We were fortunate to meet all of the leading actors and the students prepared mature and thought provoking questions in advance which enabled the session to run smoothly whilst allowing the students to gain further insight into the themes that were presented in the show.
The trip was a great success and the students were positively affected by the themes in the show. On the journey home they were asking lots of questions and challenging their own view points on identity and homophobia.
