Student Council share their views in the Dalston Conversation

This week we were lucky enough to have representatives come in from a project called the Dalston Conversation. Their ambition is to hear from everyone who lives and works in Dalston and the surrounding areas – about their ambitions and fears for the community, about how change is affecting the lives of our students and their family, and about how you want to be involved in the decisions that will shape Dalston’s future.

This group came in and spoke to our student council to get their insight into the lives of young people in Dalston. It was an interesting discussion and allowed many of the students a chance to not only talk about the negatives of the area but really show what positives they had of the area and the great things that are already taking place. It was not only a chance to discuss change but to highlight all the good that is currently being done. Dalston Conversation explained the would use our  feedback to shape the way the Council approaches change in Dalston – whether that’s what we prioritise in Council projects, what we demand from private developers or the Government, or how we support the things already happening that you value.

It was a great opportunity for our students to have their voices heard and they will be presenting their thoughts to the Mayor of hackney when he visits next term. More photos on our Facebook page.
