At Petchey we realise that the transition between your child's primary to secondary school is an exciting experience but can also sometimes be an anxious time. We try to make the move as smooth as possible by running an Information Sharing Evening, Transition Day and Summer School so that each student is fully prepared for the changes to come in September.

So you've been offered a place?

Following receipt of the offer of a place with us you will be sent a letter (as well as an updated induction booklet), including the hyperlink to an online registration form in which you will enter your contact details and sign your permission slips for forthcoming transition events.

In the summer we will be running two events for parents and students:

Tuesday 3rd July: Parents Information Sharing Evening

You and your child must attend to meet with a member of staff to go through your online admission form and hear an introductory talk from Ms Cole.

Thursday 5th July: Year 6 Transition Day

All students must attend this important day where they will be introduced to The Petchey Way and meet members of their new house.

Monday 20th - 24th August: Summer School

Our fun summer school is the perfect opportunity for students to get to know the Academy and staff and make new friends to help to reduce any anxiety or worries when they arrive in September for their first day here. Activities include Sports Day and hands on science experiments.

Most of our feeder schools are involved in activities with us including the Young Medics programme and theatre performances, so your child may be familiar with the academy; however, the style of learning is vastly different at secondary school and so we encourage all of our new Year 7s to attend Summer School at the end of the holiday to prepare them.
