Ms Mears was very proud of the efforts of her Yr 9 class during their STEM Boat Design Challenge last week. The students competed to build a boat that was capable of holding the maximum amount of mass before sinking.
The triple Science students had spent the week learning about pressure and ended the week considering how to produce a boat which produced the maximum displacement of water to increase the upthrust of their vessel. Students had a limited amount of time and resources and had to use creativity and resilience in their groups to be successful.
The group did such a good job and competition was so tight it was a six way draw! Congratulations Year 9!
