Ethos & values
Our approach can be summed up as: 'Entrepreneurial about learning; in the business of success.'
Through wide-ranging opportunities our students become strongly independent learners. They develop an excellent understanding of citizenship and their responsibilities to the local and world community. They develop independence, a keen sense of responsibility and self-reliance. We emphasise the need for traditional values in a modern world.
Respect for all is the keynote of successful adulthood. This is achieved through emphasising service to each other and the community. All students enhance and enrich their experience through extended hours activities and community service. Where possible, this is accredited and added to their 'Record of Achievement'. Such extension activities include a range of foreign language (such as Arabic and Mandarin Chinese) and all students undertake First Aid certification.
Our patron, Jack Petchey, believes in an approach to life which says, 'If I think I can…I can!' So each student are expected to strive for the highest level of individual success.
Success in academic, sporting, musical, creative and spiritual areas are all strongly celebrated. We believe that every student can achieve real personal success in something significant, irrespective of ability or background.
To achieve this we work in strong partnership with parents and carers. We depend on good communication with home. In the same way that we support and challenge each child to excel, we need home life to do the same.
Every classroom and workspace have interactive white boards and the use of high powered video conferencing techniques are much in evidence. This helps students to be business-like and efficient in all they achieve.
