The keynote to each student's success is releasing potential. We firmly believe that every student must be supported to achieve their best. Teaching and learning is organised with this firmly in mind.
The subjects taught are closely in line with the national curriculum but are enhanced to reflect the Academy's specialisms - medical sciences, health and social care. Wherever it is appropriate, information technology isused to support learning. Computers areused to support teaching using interactive whiteboards and other classroom applications. Students develop their information skills by using ICT for research, processing information, writing and producing presentations.
Teaching is a blend between traditional "tried and tested" approaches and those more recently developed based upon personalised learning, At the heart of this is a recognition that each student has a preferred approach to learning. Some students learn best by "doing", some students learn best by reading and reflection. The learning plan for each student reflects the preferred approach to learning.
All learning is regularly assessed and the outcomes used to help work out the next stage of learning. Overall, a "record of achievement" is built up for each student. This records all the many achievements over the time a student attends the Academy.
The Academy is committed to providing the very best teaching in order to secure the highest possible standard of learning.
