Our houses
The Petchey Academy operates a "House" system. All students are placed in one of the Houses. Our Houses are named after promiment people in the health, care and medical science field.

Yacoub House
Sir Magdi Yacoub has probably performed more transplants than any other surgeon in the world. He was born and raised in Cairo but came to Britain in 1962. He has combined surgical work with scientific research. Sir Magdi is a Fellow of the Royal Society.
Darzi House
Professor Sir Ara Darzi KBE is famous for key-hole and robotic surgery. He was born in 1960 ans is Professor of Surgery at Imperial College, London.

Hunt House
Sir Tim Hunt - Nobel Prizewinner 2001. Bio-chemist specialising in cell biology. He was born in 1943 and is renowned for his work on « key regulators of the cell cycle ».

Saunders House
Dame Cecily Saunders OM (1918-2005). Nurse, Doctor and Carer. The founder of the modern hospice movement. She transformed the care and treatment of the terminally ill.

Seacole House
Mary Seacole was a pioneering nurse and heroine of the Crimea War. In addition she was an outstanding carer. Born in Kingston, Jamaica 1805, she spent time in Britain and the Crimea.

Jenner House
Edward Jenner 1749-1823 was a country doctor. He is famous for discovering the vaccine for small pox. Jenner gave his cure to the world free of charge.
