Uniform & appearance
Impressions do count
To this end we help our students to develop a keen sense of belonging, self respect and an understanding of the impression they make by the way they behave and dress. We want students to understand that different dress codes are applicable in particular circumstances.
This will support our business-like approach to education. We are therefore committed to a strict uniform policy.
The uniform design takes into account durability, cost and identity. It gives students a feeling of pride which we hope will stay with them throughout their days at The Academy and beyond.
The Academy welcomes students of all faiths and we are pleased to discuss modifications to the uniform for religious reasons. However we wish to keep it largely similar for all students.
For both boys and girls it includes a jacket, tie, shirt, trousers and a kilt option for girls.
There is also a Petchey Academy Sports outfit so that students can be similarly smart when doing sport. Some of this is compulsory and some items optional.
For competitive inter-house activities students are recognised by a distinctive additional stripe on their tie.
To maintain the quality and uniqueness of our uniform, there is one sole supplier and variations of the uniform are not acceptable. This assists in keeping costs relatively low.
In the future, we also plan to have a 'nearly new' facility where good condition uniform can be purchased and resold.
We hope that you will support our reasons for having a uniform and ensuring that students attending The Petchey Academy wear the correct uniform.
The Academy reserves the right to send a student home if not in correct uniform.
