On the 9th July 2008, students' hard work on The Petchey Academy 's production of 'The Willow Pattern' paid off with a very successful performance. Highlights of this production were also performed during The Petchey Academy Celebrations Evening.
'The Willow Pattern' was chosen during the Academy theme of 'China' and year 8 students studied this folk tale during their curriculum Drama lessons.
The story of 'The Willow Pattern' is most famously known through the famous blue and white patterned plate and tells the tale of a vengeful Mandarin and his spirited daughter.
Next year the academy will be staging a production of 'Bugsy Malone'. Auditions and casting have recently occurred and rehearsals are soon to be underway!

Drama in the curriculum at They Petchey Academy
All students take drama in Year 7 and 8. At Key Stage 4, we offer the AQA drama GCSE and AQA Performing Arts GCSE, which offers students the chance to explore aspects of the theatre industry including set design, marketing and publicity as well as acting.
