COMMUNITY COHESION AT THE PETCHEY ACADEMY

 

 

   

Introduction
 
The Petchey Academy (TPA) delivered a four week holiday programme during the summer holidays. A wide range of recreational and educational activities were on offer attracting young people aged 11 to 16 year old. Activities includedBasketball, Drumming, Forensic Science, Ice Blading, Street Dance supported by a number of external partner organisations.
 

TPA worked in partnership with Basketball Coach Mr Salih Best, KCO Iceblading, Education Group Ltd to deliver a diverse and educational holiday programme. We had a good mix of sports and activities workshops catering for a wide range of ethnicities, age and abilities. In conjunction to TPA summer activities, ReachOut delivered coached sports and booster classes in Maths, Science and English to more than 130 young people aged 9 – 14.

Many thanks to Mr Salih Best, Ms Natalie Dexter, Educational Group Ltd, KCO Iceblading, Mr Peter Blackwell and all ReachOut Sports leaders for their outstanding tuition. Also many thanks to TPA Facilities & Admin team, everyone played a pivotal role delivering sessions, registering pupils, monitoring classes and providing supplementary security on site.

 We have a major part to play in promoting community cohesion and therefore we are currently providing a range of services and activities beyond the school day to help meet the needs of our pupils, their families and the wider community.

The Petchey Academy works together with the local community to identify and implement action, based on mutual respect and  understanding of diverse cultures and contributions.

Providing excellent leisure and learning opportunities that may lead to personal and social development through the academy superb facilities.
