Key Stage 4

Petchey pupils commence the Key Stage 4 science syllabus at the start of Year 9 and take their GCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. They have the option of taking the following GCSE courses within the OCR Gateway Science suite:

• Biology, Chemistry and Physics as singles sciences (3 GCSEs) (pupils to be advised by their science teacher as to whether this course is appropriate)
• Core and Additional science(2 GCSEs)
• Core and Applied science representing (2 GCSEs)

Some pupils taking single sciences may have the option of taking one of them at the end of Year 10.
