David Nash, Assistant Vice Principal (joined in 2009)

  • I joined the academy in 2009 as Lead in Geograph and eally enjoyed developing the subject and enhancing the curriculum offer. During this time I was also supported to engage in Subject and Leadership CPD
  • I became a Learning and Teaching Coach in 2011 and worked across the school delivering INSET and coaching teachers.
  • Applied and was accepted onto the Future Leaders (now Ambition Leadership) programme in 2013.  Undertook Associate Assistant Vice Principal role where I took on leadership for external Partnerships, Careers, Learning Communities (for example NQT, “Good to Outstanding”, and “NQT +1” groups
  • Took on a full Assistant Vice Principal Role in 2014.  Lead on Teaching and Learning as well as previous responsibilities.  Developed key Partnerships with Bloomberg and Career Ready to enhance the wider curriculum for all students
  • Had the opportunity to line manage a wide range of provisions including Year 11, Enterprise and Innovation and the Expressive Arts.
  • As Assistant Vice Principal I am responsible for Teaching, Learning and Assessment and I really appreciate the autonomy the academy allows me to develop this area and drive it forward. We are currently exploring a more outward facing approach including increasing our Initial Teacher Training Provision, and working with the Hackney Teaching Schools Alliance.
  • I have really enjoyed developing my career at the academy over the past 9 years and the opportunity to support and inspire a generation of young people.  We have a vibrant staff team who bring an energy and real desire to make a difference.  Our students really value the support we provide and I take great pleasure in receiving contact from former students who have gone on to higher education or undertaking a wide range of internships and apprenticeships.
