Transition from primary to secondary school

At The Petchey Academy we understand that the transition from primary to secondary school can be both exciting and daunting for both parents and students alike.

Student wellbeing is paramountOur aim is to make that process as smooth as possible to ensure that students are happy and settled, and parents and carers have all the information they need and, more importantly, peace of mind.

Our New Families Handbook page tells you everything you and your child need to know before they start, and we host a series of events between July and September to ease the transition and help new students to get to know their peers, the academy and the staff. The induction process includes a half day spent at their new school in early July plus a residential trip to an outdoor pursuits centre early in the new September term for every Year 7 student.
