Careers & Work Experience
The career decisions that young people make at school will affect not just their higher education, training or employment, but also their personal lives, finances and health outcomes. The Petchey Academy provides a programme of high quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG), as well as a range of careers-related experiences, to ensure that these decisions are fully informed, and that all students are able to identify and develop their key employability skills to succeed in whichever career is right for them; be this through University, or an apprenticeship pathway.
Work Experience is an essential part of the curriculum for Year 10 and Sixth Form students to help them to get a better understanding of working life and prepare them for the world of work.

Partnerships
Through our wide range of partnerships with external organisations, businesses and employers, we are able to ensure that all students are able to benefit from exposure to the world of work and many different career pathways. Recently, the Academy has partnered with The Wellcome Collection and volunteers through the Career and Enterprise Company who work for The Jacobson Group and Burberry. The academy is very proud of our long standing relationship with Bloomberg and Careers Collaborative. There are a variety of opportunities for students to engage with Bloomberg during their time at the academy, including visits to their offices in the City of London, visiting speakers throughout the year and a programme of mentors and career readiness for Sixth Form students.
The Petchey Academy procures support for 1:1 Career Discussions from Prospects and assistance to find work experience from Inspire!
Partnerships with parents and carers is also essential for students to achieve their best possible outcome, for more information on any of our Careers provision please contact Jo-Anne Rampling.
Impartial Advice and Guidance
The Academy ensures all students get quality impartial advice and guidance about their future careers. This involves a 1 to 1 or small group meeting with the Careers Advisor, the opportunity to complete an online careers assessment, and preparation for work experience.
