RSE Day on Living a Healthy LifestyleNews ‐ 6 Feb 2020
On Thursday 6th January, perfectly timed to coincide with Children's Mental Health Week, all students were off timetable for a day to focus on the theme of Living a Healthy Lifestyle.
From Y7 to Y13 students discussed mental health, body image and self esteem, as well as what healthy relationships look like, how to eat well and even the importance of sleep. There was also a session on managing money and debt, and we were joined by teams from Brave the Rage, Young Hackney and Odd Eyes Theatre who performed their #Haters on knife crime and violence. The content for the day was put together based on feedback from a student survey in which we ask them to tell us which issues concerned them most and what they wanted to have more information on.
Mr Janvrin who organised the day commended staff for making such an important day also really engaging: "It was inspiring to walk past so many rooms seeing sessions being delivered that were well-prepared full of energy, and engaging for our students. Anecdotally, the feedback from students has been very positive, and it was great to hear so many students feeding back that the most impactful sessions were those led by their own seminar tutors".
Parents and carers can find lots of resources and information for parents on supporting your child with relationships & sex education at home on our website here as well as mental health, revision and online safety.
