A-Level & BTEC Results Day

News ‐ 14 Aug 2020

Years 12 and 13 are possibly the most challenging and intensive years in a students’ school career, and this year has been especially hard for those students who have not been able to complete year 13 or sit their exams. This year’s cohort were particularly hard working and high achieving which has made it all the more disappointing that they weren’t given the opportunity to prove it for themselves, but their positivity and perseverance over the past few months has been fantastic. We are extremely proud of them all, and we have really enjoyed seeing some of them in person today.

We are absolutely delighted that so many of our students have been accepted on to their first choice of course and feel confident that The Petchey Academy has provided them with a firm foundation to enable to them to achieve success in their chosen field and make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.

Although every student has triumphed in the face of adversity this year, we would like to give a special mention to the following students:

  • Aamir Patel - put in an incredible academic performance and one of best sets of results in history of academy with  D1 (above A* equivalent for Pre-U course), D2(A*) A.
  • Neo Vanegas - For exceptional improvement from GCSE to A Level
  • Anil Erdogan - D*D*D* - Exceptional achievement in BTEC Business
  • Giovanna Barros - joined the academy with English as a second language in year 11 and made rapid progress through exceptional hard work, and has gone from strength to strength to achieve D*DD
  • Melissa Acer - also overcame personal challenges and made exceptional progress - D*D*D
  • Toby Afolabi Cookey - Made a complete turnaround at the start of year 13 nd also overcame personal challenges to achieve a fantastic set of results and his dream placement at SOAS to study International Relations
  • Ayoub Orlarbi - put in such a great performance across BTEC and A Level Sociology (A) that he went for upward clearing

Amongst the confirmed destinations for this year’s cohort are 10 Russell Group universities, two Medics, a placement to study political science at the University of Atlanta and an Astrophysicist. We also have several students taking up apprenticeship placements.
