Important information about school closure & remote learning plansImportant Announcement ‐ 5 Jan 2021
Further to the announcement made by the government on 4th January, the academy is currently closed until further notice.
Students in all year groups will receive remote learning as per the schedule available below. Full details will be emailed to students directly and also set on Show My Homework.
BTEC exams scheduled for January will be going ahead as planned
Students should be checking Show My Homework and also their Petchey email account.
Children of critical workers & vulnerable students
The academy will only be open for the children of critical workers and those students deemed to be ‘vulnerable’. This provision is only to be used where there is no other alternative and students cannot stay at home.
Accessing remote learning
The government has also released additional laptops and data allowances so if your child is struggling to access online learning because they are sharing a laptop, or you do not have sufficient data, please do get in touch with your child’s tutor so that we can support you with this.
- It is completely understandable that students may be feeling apprehensive or anxious during this difficult time so our year teams will be in touch with students regularly to check-in. Students who do have concerns or queries should email their tutor in the first instance, or specific subject teacher.
- Parents and carers who have queries or concerns are also encouraged to contact your child’s tutor via email as all staff are working remotely.
Free school meals
Students entitled to free school meals will receive vouchers via email from Wonde. They will be sent out a week in arrears starting w/c 11th January. Enquiries about vouchers should be sent to email@example.com.
Public vocational exams (BTEC) and assessments scheduled to take place in January will go ahead as planned.
The government has announced that it will not be possible for exams to go ahead fairly this summer. The Secretary of State for Education will be asking Ofqual to consult rapidly on an approach for alternative arrangements that will allow students to progress fairly. We will update you and students in due course.
As ever, all of the above may be subject to changes in this rapidly evolving pandemic and we will endeavour to keep you updated as quickly as we can, as and when we receive any new information. Please also keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook accounts for ideas and resources to support everyone’s mental health at this difficult time.
Parents/carers and students can email firstname.lastname@example.org for log-in or password details.
