On Wednesday afternoons, the day is slightly longer, finishing at 4pm to enable students to take part in a variety of cross-curricular projects and team activities.
Students in Years 7 and 8 have the opportunity to enhance their learning in special cross-curricular projects which foster collaboration, team-work, communication, and the ability to relate their studies to the real world. These projects change termly and students are chosen at random for each project which allows for students to be exposed to a broad range of skills and projects.
Students demonstrating talents for particular sports will be selected to take part in Elite Team Sports such as football, basketball or netball and may be selected to represent the academy in the borough, across London or nationally.
Students with musical abilities will join the academy band or choir who also rehearse during the extended afternoon.
Students who study Elite Sports, Dance, Orchestra, Young Language Leaders, Handwriting Club and ASDAN study the same project for the academic year to develop their skills in more depth.
Years 9-11 have boosters and intervention classes in the core subjects (English, Maths and Science) to support their learning in these areas.
