16-19 Bursary Fund

The 16-19 Bursary Fund is paid by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to schools and colleges so that they may provide financial assistance to young people who face the greatest barriers to continuing in education post post-16

To be eligible to apply you need to

  • be at least 16 and under 19 on 31 August 2024
  • study at a publicly funded school or college, or be on an unpaid training course
  • meet the residency requirements

Conditions of funding

If you are assessed as being eligible for a bursary, payment will be made in 4 instalments during semesters 2-5.

All awards will be conditional on attendance and behaviour and the semester’s payment will be suspended if the following have not been met:

  • at least 95% attendance (including authorised study leave) assessed for the semester preceding payment.
  • evidence to demonstrate that you are on track to achieve year-end targets.
  • appropriate behaviour – not in breach of code of conduct/ learner agreement/ behaviour policy.

Eligible students must apply online through an application form that will be posted on this website when the time comes and provide the required evidence to support the application.
